If you’re a tradesperson, you know the work is out there—but finding it can be frustrating.
Because while it is true that there are many quality jobs out there for tradespeople, the fact is that many of the ways for finding jobs have been created for non-trade candidates.
There are dozens of online job boards with varying popularity and use. Even though the big hitters like LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter and Monster serve all industries they still can prioritize technology, business and education over skilled trades jobs. Part of the problem is that many listings come from employers who aren’t actually looking for tradespeople.
Many of the career service providers require polished resumes, cover letters and online profiles. Job seekers are sometimes expected to pay for subscriptions to these services.
These challenges often result in very qualified tradespeople relying on word-of-mouth or chance to find opportunities even though there is plenty of work out there.
The bottom line? The work is there–but finding it shouldn’t feel like a full time job.
